Coming soon

Official GB electricity data from Elexon, NESO, DESNZ and other public bodies, collected from each publisher's own API or file, normalised into one schema and refreshed as each publisher updates: every half hour for live market data, daily or less often for registers and annual tables. An API and bulk downloads are coming soon, under each publisher's licence, shown on every dataset. Sources without a published reuse licence will be listed but not served.

Licences & attribution

Data remains under its publisher's licence. Keep the attribution with any reuse; API responses carry it in the X-Data-Attribution header.

  • Elexon (BMRS / Insights Solution): BMRS Data Licence. Contains BMRS data © Elexon Limited copyright and database right 2026.
  • National Energy System Operator (NESO) Data Portal: NESO Open Data Licence. Supported by National Energy SO Open Data.
  • NESO Carbon Intensity API: CC BY 4.0. Carbon Intensity API, National Energy System Operator (carbonintensity.org.uk). CC BY 4.0 under the API's Terms of Use (github.com/carbon-intensity/terms), which also bar selling or sublicensing access to the API itself and apps that substantially replace NESO's carbon-intensity services. Stored values are served here with attribution; the API is not proxied or resold.
  • Sheffield Solar PV_Live (NESO-funded): CC BY 4.0. PV_Live by Sheffield Solar, University of Sheffield, licensed under CC BY 4.0 (modified: stored, resampled and aggregated). Licence stated on the PV_Live page (solar.sheffield.ac.uk/pvlive). The /tandc page is a disclaimer, not a licence.
  • Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ): Open Government Licence v3.0. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
  • Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC) Data Portal: Open Government Licence v3.0. Contains public sector information from the Low Carbon Contracts Company licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
  • Ofgem (Renewable Electricity Register and scheme annual reports): Open Government Licence v3.0. Contains public sector information from Ofgem licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. The register names small generators, some of them individuals; only monthly totals by technology are kept here.
  • Neura Energy (derived from the official datasets listed here): Derived data; the licences of the source datasets (Elexon BMRS, NESO Open Data, OGL) apply. Neura Energy, derived from Elexon, NESO and DESNZ data (see each source dataset for its licence). Compiled from the official datasets listed here; each source's licence and attribution apply.
  • National Gas Transmission Data Portal (with ONS republication): Open data under the Gas System Operator licence; no explicit reuse licence published. Source: National Gas Transmission. Rows marked ons: Office for National Statistics, licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. National Gas's site terms reserve all rights and bar resale without written agreement. Get written terms before commercial resale; the ONS rows (OGL v3) are reusable.
